PEACE COUNTRY BJJ TOURNAMENT — PARTICIPANT WAIVER, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF ALL RISKS, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. BY AGREEING TO THIS DOCUMENT, YOU SURRENDER SUBSTANTIAL LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE.

1. ACCURACY OF REGISTRATION & DISQUALIFICATION: The competitor and/or the competitor's parent or legal guardian warrants and represents that all registration information provided—including, but not limited to, competitor age, exact weight, rank/belt level, and training history—is true, complete, and accurate. Any intentional or negligent misrepresentation of weight, age, or rank will result in immediate disqualification and ejection from the tournament without prior notice and with NO refund, credit, or transfer of fees.

2. ATHLETE RESPONSIBILITY & RING PROTOCOL: Once the tournament schedule commences, it is the sole responsibility of each competitor (or their designated parent/coach) to monitor the bracket displays and report to their assigned ring or bullpen immediately when their name, division, or ring assignment is called. Failure to report within the designated call time (or maximum 3-minute grace period determined by tournament officials) will result in automatic disqualification by walkover/forfeit. Disqualified athletes are not entitled to a refund or division transfer.

3. INHERENT DANGERS & ASSUMPTION OF PHYSICAL RISK: I am fully aware that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi and No-Gi) is a full-contact combat martial art involving high-velocity takedowns, throws, joint locks, hyperextensions, strangulations/chokes, sweeps, and intense physical exertion. I acknowledge that participation carries inherent, foreseeable, and unforeseeable risks of severe physical trauma, including but not limited to: sprains, fractures, torn ligaments/tendons, dislocations, concussions, traumatic brain injuries, permanent paralysis, spinal damage, contagious skin infections (e.g., ringworm, staph, MRSA), cardiac arrest, and death. I expressly, voluntarily, and fully assume all risks associated with my (or my minor child’s) participation.

4. FULL RELEASE OF LIABILITY & WAIVER OF CLAIMS: I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Peace Country BJJ, its directors, officers, employees, event coordinators, referees, match officials, volunteers, medical personnel, sponsors, and the owners, operators, and lessees of the premises/facility where the event takes place (collectively, the "Releasees"), from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, illness, or personal injury (including death) sustained by me or my minor child, whether arising from the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted under the laws of the Province of Alberta.

5. INDEMNITY & DEFENSE: I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Releasees from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, legal fees, and financial damages asserted by any third party (including claims brought by or on behalf of my minor child after reaching the age of majority) resulting from my or my child's presence, conduct, or participation in the Peace Country BJJ Tournament.

6. EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT AUTHORIZATION: In the event of an injury, illness, or medical emergency occurring during the competition or while on event grounds, I hereby grant permission to tournament staff, first responders, and licensed medical practitioners to administer any necessary first aid, emergency medical care, diagnostic testing, or transport to a medical facility as deemed appropriate. I accept full personal financial responsibility for all medical costs, ambulance services, hospital expenses, or medications incurred as a result of such treatment.

7. NO REFUND POLICY: All registration fees are 100% non-refundable and non-transferable once submitted, regardless of injury before or during the event, travel interruptions, illness, failure to make weight at official check-in, or disqualification.

8. BINDING EFFECT & ACKNOWLEDGMENT: I have carefully read this Waiver, Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement. I fully understand its terms, understand that I am giving up substantial legal rights by checking the acceptance box, and acknowledge that I do so freely, voluntarily, and without duress.

PEACE COUNTRY BJJ TOURNAMENT — COMPREHENSIVE MEDIA, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND VIDEO RELEASE AGREEMENT

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. THIS IS A PERPETUAL, WORLDWIDE RELEASE OF ALL LIKENESS, IMAGE, VOICE, AND BIOGRAPHICAL RIGHTS.

1. GRANT OF IRREVOCABLE MEDIA RIGHTS: I, on my own behalf and/or as the parent or legal guardian of the registered minor competitor, hereby grant to Peace Country BJJ, its directors, officers, employees, contractors, authorized photographers, videographers, broadcast partners, sponsors, and legal successors (collectively, the "Authorized Parties"), the unrestricted, irrevocable, royalty-free, perpetual, and worldwide right and license to capture, photograph, videotape, livestream, and record my (or my minor child's) likeness, voice, name, academy affiliation, and competition performance. This includes the right to produce, reproduce, broadcast, exhibit, distribute, edit, or create derivative works in any and all media now known or hereafter invented (including social media platforms, websites, livestreams, and print promotions).

2. COMMERCIAL, PROMOTIONAL & EDITORIAL USE: I agree that all photographs, video recordings, digital captures, and audio recordings may be utilized by the Authorized Parties for promotional, commercial, archival, educational, editorial, or informational purposes relating to the promotion of Peace Country BJJ and martial arts events without any requirement of compensation, royalties, or residuals.

3. WAIVER OF INSPECTION & COPYRIGHT OWNERSHIP: I expressly waive any moral rights, right of inspection, right of attribution, or right to pre-approve finished media products, cuts, composites, or accompanying textual copy. I acknowledge that Peace Country BJJ and its designated photographers retain full and exclusive copyright ownership of all captured media.

4. WAIVER OF PRIVACY & PUBLICITY CLAIMS: I irrevocably release, discharge, and hold harmless the Authorized Parties from any and all claims, demands, damages, or causes of action arising from the capture, use, or publication of my (or my minor child’s) name, voice, or likeness—including, without limitation, claims for invasion of privacy, violation of publicity rights, defamation, false light, or copyright infringement.

5. MINOR PARTICIPANT CONSENT: If the competitor is under 18 years of age, I warrant and certify that I am the legal parent or court-appointed legal guardian of the competitor, possess legal authority to execute this release on their behalf, and grant full permission for the recording and publication of the minor's likeness, name, age division, and academy representation.
